Frequently Asked Questions

Who can go on Trek?

Trek is for all youth 14-18 years old (turning 14 in 2022), and Adults that have been given a calling or assignment to come.

(Please do not try to come out and visit during Trek if you are not registered or do not have an assignment to be there.)

Is there a cost for Trek?

No. There is not a fee to attend trek. However, all participants are required to provide their own Pioneer Clothing and all items on the individual packing list.

Can I come late or leave early?

No! Due to the nature of this event, including but not limited to, being part of a Trek Family and traveling on a remote trail, many miles away from regular transportation; it will not be possible to come late or leave early.

Are any electronics devices allowed on Trek?

To maintain the pioneer spirit, all electronic devices (cell phones, gaming devices, I-pads, MP3 players, etc.) will NOT be allowed on Trek. So please leave electronics at home. We will have multiple photographers taking pictures during Trek, and these pictures will be made available to all participants after Trek.

Where and When are we meeting for Trek?

We start the Trek on Wednesday Morning, June 1st at 8:30 AM Sharp. Eat a good breakfast before coming!

WARD LEADERS please make arrangements to meet & carpool your youth to Trek, as needed.

We will meet at the end of the Knik River Public Use Area parking lot. Driving Directions and Map.

See the Personal Packing List to make sure you get there with all your gear and dressed in pioneer clothes. WITHOUT THESE ITEMS, YOU CANNOT GO, NO EXCEPTIONS!!

**We plan to be back at this same spot on Saturday, June 4th. Parents, please be there about 12:30 pm to welcome the trekkers back and take them home to shower :) !

Come to the Palmer Stake Center (Colony Bldg.) at 6 pm for a Fireside and Dance!

Can youth drive themselves to Trek?

No! All youth need to be dropped off and picked up. Youth may not park a car at the drop off location during Trek.

When will I find out which Pioneer Trek family I am assigned to?

You will find out who your Trek family is when you check in on Wednesday. It will be an exciting morning!

Can a YSA (young single adult) help with Trek?

Possibly. Contact the Trail Boss to see if there is something you could help with.
